Malachi Jude
6-12 months

Malachi doesn't seem to be growing as rapidly as he was in his first 6 months (whew!).  He is now 8 months old and moving around everywhere.  I put him on the scale at the Y and he weighed 21 lbs.  He's also very tall.  He grew out of the rise of his mediums before he grew out of the waist/thighs.

In these pictures, Malachi is 7.5 months old.  This is my favorite nighttime diaper--flannel outer, Sherpa hidden layer with attached layer of terry in the wet zone, and Bamboo Velour inner.  It has a snap-in soaker made from similar layers and I use a 3-layer hemp fleece doubler.  It has side-snapping closures for a nice fit on my big, wiggly boy.  This diaper gets us *just* until morning time.  If I wait too long after he's up to change his diaper, he drenches everything.

In the following pictures, MJ is 8 months old.

He cries a lot over the simplest things...so his nickname is "Malacry".  This diaper has a cotton velour outer and a bamboo velour inner.  The hidden layer is sherpa, making this diaper super stretchy.  I use an additional snap-in for nighttime.

Above is a one-size pocket diaper snapped on the medium setting.  Below is a new tester one-size diaper, where I have modified my pattern to be more trim through the crotch and across the thighs.

Here MJ is "squeezing" into his small envelope-style pocket diaper at 8.5 months old.  This is a SMALL.  I have recently re-drawn my pattern to be narrower through the crotch for babies with chubby legs and gotten great feedback on it--the new pattern would fit him even better.  We just love some diapers too much to let them go.  :)  Since I took this picture, I have removed the Touchtape closures and added snaps instead, which has made the fit "work" for longer.

This is a new minkee cover that I made for MJ to go over his diapers he was wearing at the top of the page.  It fits him great, and the elastic is not too tight.  I do need to make a couple pattern modifications, though.  It is still quite useable and very cute.  Want one?

8.5 months old.  What a ham!

11.5 months old

As Malachi's 1st birthday rapidly approaches (June 2nd) and passes, I thought you might like to see if he is slimming out any.

The pirate duckies fitted is still one of my favorite diapers.  It fits him very well with room to grow his fat thighs even more.

His proportions ARE changing, but he's not slimming much, just getting taller.  I can snap the waist snaps of his one-size diapers on a tighter setting now.  He is still on the medium rise setting, though.

Learning to stand, and walk!

Stuffed with an insert and a doubler, but still no gaping around the legs.

He has a new fleece cover that I really love.  It's very breathable.  As you can see, some things never change.

Discovering rain.

Malachi's current stash:

10 One-Size Pocket Diapers

1 Small Pocket Diaper (amazingly, it still fits)
1 med Pocket diaper (yes, it fits well, too)
1 Large Pocket Diaper (seems a little crazy, huh? It is a minkee hand-me-down from big brother Josh)
3 Large Growing Cheekies fitted diapers
1 One-size fitted diaper
2 Snap-in Doublers for the fitteds
1 Large Front-snapping fleece cover
1 Large Front-snapping minkee cover

I wash diapers every other night.
