Inserts I have been custom making inserts for customers, and it's about time I make this process a bit simpler. Here are your options. A simple rectangular insert is made 2-layers thick and should be folded in half lengthwise to stuff into a pocket diaper or lay in a cover. The length can be customized to best fit the diaper you want to stuff. Recommended lengths from 12" up to 16". Suggested fabrics: 100% Cotton Terry, Hemp/Cotton Fleece or French Terry, Organic Cotton Fleece or French Terry, Bamboo/Cotton Fleece or French Terry I am also making shaped inserts. A shaped insert can also be made the desired length. It has 3 absorbing layers in the main part and 2 in an attached doubler. This is designed to be quick-drying. A shaped insert is very easy to use and makes laundry-folding go much faster. It also stays in place and avoids "bunching" or shifting, especially on babies or toddlers who are moving around a lot. As you can see from the measurements below, my inserts are nice and wide in the front, so that you have absorbency up front where you need it for boys (and some girls too, I'm told!). It is wide in the back to assist those babies who leak out of their pocket diapers when sleeping on their sides.
The newborn and small inserts are 3.5" at the narrowest point in the crotch. The front is 5.5" and the back is 6.5" wide. The medium and large inserts are 4.5" wide in the crotch. The front is 6" and the back is 8" wide. Choose to customize your inserts by substituting a layer of velour for the top layer or by adding a cute layer of flannel!
